The following are actions you can take on your turn during combat.
1. Attack: This would be with a melee or ranged weapon against an enemy.
2. Cast a Spell: Depending on the spell but most have a casting time of one action.
3. Dash: Using this action you can double your speed for the turn but give up any other action for the turn.
4. Disengage: Using this action does not provoke opportunity attacks from enemies.
5. Dodge: Using your action to dodge an attack you give disadvantage to the enemy if you make a Dex check and you can see the attacker.
6. Help: You can help another creature in the completion of a task (open stuck door, lift something, ect)giving them advantage on the task. Alternatively you can aid an attack within 5 ft of you and give the ally advantage on their attack.
7. Hide: You can attempt to hide by making a Dex check.
8. Ready: This is readying something to happen later in the round and use it when the time is right.
9. Search: Devoting time to finding something.
10. Use an Object: most commonly would be using a magical item, such as a wand, rod or staff.
These are the most common actions while in combat. There may be others but this list should cover just about anything you might do.
