Still crying but no longer restrained on the ground, the soldiers use their bodies, and create a circle around Bi'rel to give her some privacy, the Lieutenant of the guard there ordered it so, feeling compassion for the young elf that had done so much to bring them victory this day.
Rajish walked over to Bi'rel and asked for a moment with her there, and hearing Bi'rel ask to see Rajish, the guards allowed him in to the circle. Reports from the guards were that the two had a very melodic conversation that none of them understood, and they all realized that they no longer heard anything slowly turned to see Bi'rel, alone sitting and deep in a trance. The Lieutenant ordered for the guards to watch over her and set a soldier to find Damakos, report to him what had just happened and ask for advice from him as to how they should proceed, having never seen anything like this before. Some of the guards reported that the Lieutenant whispered at one point, "Our heroes bare the deepest burdens.”
The guard quickly walks to Damakos and tells him of the happenings with Bi'rel and he hurries to her. As he comes up to the guards he says, "Bi'rel it is Damakos, may I have a word with you?”
Bi'rel responds in an overly-calm voice but seems to be maintain her trance,"Yes Damakos, I can hear you.”
Damakos tries in his best calming voice, "I have my thoughts about what you fear and know that I will do all in my power to protect you. We have closed the entrance and I will make sure that guards are posted there as long as we stay here if that will set you at ease. Know that we did not mean to frighten you but I believe that this should be investigated at some point.”
Bi'rel, eyes still closed an in an unusually deep trance, says in that overly-calm voice again,"There is not talking, there is no compromise, the Drow must be prevented from reaching the surface" you notice the slightest thing in Bi'rel's face and her voice shakes ever so slightly,as she finishes her thought, "All the Drow must die, but for now, we must keep them in Drazh Kazad.”
Damakos is a little puzzled by her comment, just simply says, ”Agreed, but why would you think that the Drow would come up from there? I will admit I went down a ways in there and certainly it is not deep enough to reach the Drazh Kazad. I did not go very far but I seen nothing that would tell me that Drow were there." He stops wondering if he should tell her what he did see.
Again Bi'rel does not break her trance, and her voice does not change, "Palins has a letter, you must see it. More than just a few guards must keep a vigilant watch on that door, or we must seal it," her voice seems to slightly change, "for the safety of all.”
Damakos says, "Rest easy M'lady, you are safe here. I will find Palins and ask to see this letter."
He turns to the Lieutenant of the guard, "please see to a ten man detail to guard the entrance at all times, no one in or out without Commander Oleg or my permission, yes?" he turns away before waiting for a reply and searches out Palins.
Bi'rel says in a very calm but loud voice, “Damakos!"
Damakos stops and turns, “Yes?"
Bi'rel says, "For what it's worth to you, I trust you and call you friend.”
Damakos stands frozen for a moment in thought, Friend?...Trust?...these are not things he hears often. A slight smile forms on his face. "more than gold, my friend, more than gold." He sands there a second longer, looking at her,and the thought comes to him, you will not betray this.
Damakos turns and goes to find this letter.
