First, think about this for a second, every character should have it's strengths and weaknesses. If you could make a multi-classed character that was a fighter, cleric, magi, rouge there really would be no point in having a party if one character could do everything.
The classes and for that matter the races have their own unique qualities about them for a reason. Why is that? because it makes a need for them to work together. Some are going to be better at one thing than someone else and that makes a need for a party to work together.
Fighters, Barbarians, and Paladins are there to stand toe to toe and fight it out, even though the Paladin has a small amount of healing, your not going to depend on any of these to keep the party healed. That is what a Cleric is for.
Sorcerer, Warlock and Wizards can do damage to many at one time or bring down the defenses of the enemy but your not going to send them in with a dagger to fight the pack of Werewolves.
So why are there different classes? The game is made to have multiple players and if all the classes had the same strengths and weaknesses there would be no point in have multiple players or if there were they all could do the same exact thing and that would make for a very boring game.
